This was the 1st text in a series of three strange texts I received one after the other. Each were identical with the exception of the number that supposedly sent them. There were no words in the texts, just a Download button. Of course I didn't click it, but instead went on the web to look up the number(s). Seeing this one not listed yet, I figured I should report it/them.The three number that text'd the same thing to me, all about one minute apart were:1st - 253-709-7129 ('real number' according Mr. Number)2nd - 971-263-2696 ('fake number' according Mr. Number)3rd - 253-677-8376 ('real number' according Mr. Number)I will report them individually.

Received a call from 904-699-9831 around 6:45 pm from my work number from a guywith an indian accent asking for an individual with the last name that happened to be mine. He did not introduce himself to inform me that he was calling about anything or what company etc. I just played dumb repeating our business name a few times along with who he was. He finally asked if we were a business I replied yes and asked for mrs. _ and I replied no one by that name. He then hung up. Odd that if what everyone is claiming it has to do with virus alerts from personal computers I didnt even have mine or was on one.

Informational Post:Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday LoansWashington, D.C.December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office(202) 324-3691 filed under: Press ReleaseThe Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started. The fraudsters relentlessly call the victims home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims relatives, friends, and employers.
