My 8yr. old has a cell phone. If something happens to him, and he needs to contact his mommy/911. Not that my son is ever unsupervised by an adult at all times, due to his age, and a 16yr old would be unsupervised by adults. You should think before you speak. My neighborhood has not a payphone 1 for several miles. Most of the time he has no minutes, but I still have him carrying it with him everywhere. Wheather it has time or not, it can still be used to contact 911. Not to mention if my child is taken by some sick [***], gps can track my baby. One more thing, do you ever watch the news??? Our babies are not safe anywhere. Not in school, not in church, and sometimes not in thier own homes.

5/17/2013: This number has called so many times in the past 5 years that i have it permanently blocked. I was thinking of unblocking it not that long ago to make space for some of the other frequent offenders, but I ended up picking another number, instead. Glad I did. This number called us tonight at 6:22 while i was trying to get dinner on the table. That was about an hour after a SIMILAR number/MO called us: 413-000-7842. Suspect it was from the same source. THAT one started playing a recording just as the answering machine picked up and was playing its outgoing message. Something about our credit card account. Once the machine beeped that it was recording, it hung up. Sneaky SOBs!NO number with all zeros is valid. It is SPOOFED which is ILLEGAL and means someone is being untruthful, at best. This has been going on for SIX YEARS. This is a number that the PHONE COMPANIES should BLOCK automatically. This is BS that this has been allowed to happen THIS long with NO action.SHAME ON YOU, VERIZON, ATT, SPRINT, T-MOBILE and every other one out there.

Agreed. The problem is---the laws which are in place to protect us are woefully antiquated and have not kept up with the explosion of technology, which these scamsters use to commit their crimes. All one can do is access a call blocking device and/or service to discourage them from calling. We subscribe to a call blocking service through our ISP, which automatically blocks selected numbers and basically tells these callers to GET LOST. After a while they finally give up and move on to another target.

I answered and said hello twice and a creepy robotic voice only said "goodbye". No joke....very freaky.
